Training Sessions

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care! Our wildlife volunteers help feed, care for, transport and release the wild birds and animals that LTWC receives. Our seminar teaches wildlife diets, feeding techniques, housing, first aid, capture and transportation, anatomy and examination, and more.

The two-day seminar is split into two sessions. Training Session #1 is a class that provides information about our local wildlife. Training Session #2 is a hands-on training course.

Those who wish to volunteer to care for birds and animals at our facility must take both sessions (hands-on volunteers must be at least 16 years old). You may take Training Session #1 as a standalone class if you are interested in learning more about wildlife, without becoming a trained wildlife volunteer.

Hands-on Animal Care Training

  • Hands-on training with animal care team at the LTWC Facility
  • Single 4-hour session
  • Morning and afternoon time slots available on June 1 or June 2
  • Attendees will select their time slot at the May 4 Training Session #1
